Slavomír Adamčík, PhD., Plant Science and Biodiversity Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Department of Microbial and Plant Interactions; email: slavomir.adamcik@savba.sk

Slavomir is a senior researcher and head of the Laboratory of Molecular Ecology and Mycology. Over decades of working with fungal taxonomy, systematics and phylogeny, he has directed his interest towards understanding the ecological function and evolutionary adaptations of individual fungal species. He is implementing metabarcoding and data mining from public databases to recognise niches, ecological preferences and biogeographic patterns of fungi. His primary focus is on basidiomycetes, specifically grassland agarics and Russula. He is promoting international collaborations to access global diversity data for studied fungal groups. He organises biennial international Russulales workshop. He is a member of UNITE community

Prof. dr M. Thines, Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Faculty of Biosciences, Institute of Ecology, Evolution and Diversity, Max-von-Laue-Str. 9, D-60438 Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Marco is Professor in evolutionary analyses and biological archives at the Goethe University of Frankfurt am Main, and research group leader at the Senckenberg Natural History Society in Germany. His main research interests are the evolution and ecology of plant and protist pathogens, in particular biotrophic oomycetes. This also includes fungal systematics (in particular Oomycota and Ustilaginomycotina), comparative genomics, and the characterisation of plant pathogens, with focus in newly occurring species. He is an editor for several journals and is presently the President of the German Mycological Society (DGfM). Marco is a member of the International Commission for the Taxonomy of Fung (ICTF) and the Nomenclature Committee for Fungi (NCF).

Prof. Korsten is a globally recognized leader in food safety and plant pathology, currently serving as President of the African Academy of Science. In this capacity, she is driving a vision to establish the Academy as an inclusive, gender-balanced, and world-leading champion for African scientific excellence.

An Emeritus Professor at the University of Pretoria, Prof. Korsten is the Co-Director of the NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security and Chair of the ASSAf Food Safety Forum. Her influence extends from national policy, where she has advised the South African Parliament on food safety legislation to global diplomacy. She is a key representative for African science at the World Economic Forum in Davos and serves on the High-Level Review Committee for the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), bridging the gap between scientific breakthroughs and international policy.

Her academic record is distinguished by over 200 peer-reviewed publications and an H-index of 59, placing her in the top 2% of scientists worldwide (AD Scientific Index). She has mentored over 100 postgraduate students.

Beyond her research, Prof. Korsten is a Fellow of the Academy of Science of South Africa and the South African Society for Plant Pathology, holds an honorary doctorate from Ghent University and an honorary professorship from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
